Not the first time this has happened…”The Grand Archives” seems to like claiming other people’s stuff as his own.
This is actually cute as fuck. Really shocking, more than anything, that in this day and age someone could post a couple images in 2010 and still be surprised to see them resurface elsewhere three years later. The best part of the whole thing is that because of fatshawnkemp’s popularity, posts tend to get reblogged a lot, which overtime (let’s say three years) places them all over the internet. My only methods of obtaining material worth posting is a) the occasional scan and upload b) searching thru eBay and b) Google. For those of you who do not know, Google is a search engine used to find anything you could possibly want. Wanna learn the best way to wipe your ass with your weak hand? Google has the answer. Wanna find a shot of Jason Williams playing for the Grizzlies? Google is the answer. eBay works in the same way in that it too is a fucking search engine. You put shit in, it spits shit out. Search for “hoop magazine” in eBay right now and you will get 500+ results, half of which are worth posting, and I guarantee that within those 500+ is at least one one those Kemp covers, because oddly enough when Hoop Magazine published that particular issue, they didn’t just print one issue and send it to fatshawnkemp for blogging purposes. They actually printed a lot more than that, so many that there is now an abundance of people who have gone and scanned the cover and put it on the internet for all to witness. Consequently, if eBay is the Rafael Palmeiro of search engines, google is Barry Bonds. If you want to find a shot of Jason Williams in Memphis, you search for “Jason Williams Grizzlies” and what do ya know about a trillion photos come up. Now, the thought of having a faceless blogger try to call me out for finding something on google that he/she had posted three years ago…I feel like I’ve wasted ten minutes of my life trying to figure out how to handle this. All in all, getting upset about seeing something you’ve posted on someone else’s blog is likely tumblr’s most bitched about topic to date, but to have someone like this with an obvious following call me out over a magazine cover that I found on eBay and a card scan found on google…I just don’t get it. What is there to complain about? It’s the nature of the beast. You are literally a victim of the world you have created. I’m not about to explain the whole tumblr culture but obviously the more popular you become the chances of seeing your posts elsewhere become higher. People have been doing this same thing to me for years and I give zero fucks because any retard can go thru google images like I have, so for me to try to lay claim over an image I found on google or scanned in my bedroom is bush league shit. Just because I took the time to sit on my ass and click a button for hours doesn’t make a photo found on google mine, and just because you took the time to find a particular card and scan it and crop it and edit it and upload it doesn’t mean someone else hasn’t already done the same or that someone else won’t do the same in the future, and just because you went thru all that turmoil to bring that photo to the masses doesn’t mean it won’t end up as an unsourced image found on google three years later. This is where I would type out a final kill shot to end it but at this point I am so physically drained from the time spent thinking about this that I can no longer continue to take part. I need to take a nap or something. This was absolutely exhausting.
