While we are on the subject of re-contextualizing childhood heroes through social media, I just have to say something really quickly about Chris Kelly, who died today and is basically the reason I ever got into music. It’s kind of easy to look at what Kriss Kross did and take it for granted but it sure as hell meant a lot to me as a kid and set up what would be a lifetime of listening to songs over and over long after they fall out of the cycles of pop culture and radio playlists. Really bummed out. Warm it up Chris, I’m gonna miss you.
